Being as Natural as Possible is the Key

Give your nails some attention, at least making sure they are trimmed and clean. Ladies should also take a minute to touch up any fingernail polish. Chipped polish will show up in your portraits if there are close-ups of your hands. If your nail polish is chipped or your fingers are dirty, it will show.

Keep in mind that trends change with time and so simple hairstyles and natural makeup are best. We suggest that you avoid cutting your hair within the 2 days before, but ideally, haircuts should be done about 2 weeks before the photo session. Of course, any hair styling can be done at any time, but again simple is best. Have any hair and makeup supplies available for quick touch-ups.

During summer months in particular, we recommend that you limit your exposure to the sun for a few days before a photography session. Obviously, sun can change the natural tone of your skin, or even burn it. And it can accentuate lines and imperfections in your skin and create “shadows” especially if you wear glasses.

Although it is good to have these things in mind, please do not be overly concerned about them either. Whatever you decide to do and however you decide to do it, the key is to be as natural as possible.
